Teen Lab at the Art Institute of Chicago
Get To Know Me: Jazz
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?
Sloppy and dirty, usually when I am drawing I am not going for a clean look. I’m usually going for an undefined style. When I am drawing objects, the lines are very rough and jagged or when I’m shading I wouldn’t describe it as clean or all over the place; it’s the right amount of sloppy.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE?
Thats a good question. I don’t know. I saw my dad drawing and wanted to do that. I saw my friend play drums and wanted to do that too. It’s more or less that people inspire me to do something and then it sticks.
HOW DO YOU APPROACH EACH NEW PIECE?
There’s no planning, I go straight into it. If there is any planning I do ABC sketches. ABC sketches are preliminary sketches which determine what is in my head.
WHAT DOES TEEN LAB MEAN TO YOU? .
It means I get to create stuff, its one of the reasons I came here. I can draw and create, paint, and do whatever I like.
