Teen Lab at the Art Institute of Chicago

What's your artist statement?
I make art because it comes naturally to me. I like to experiment with different mediums of art from paint to photography. I have many different influences on my art from street artist and photographers like Humza Deas, Kostennn, and J.C. Rivera and rappers like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. Typically most of the things I create are influenced from my personal experiences and inner thoughts.
What does "art" mean to you?
Art to me is a form of expression that ranges to just about everything. Everything we see and create, even if it's done effortlessly, has an art to it. Some of the art you see may not always be appealing to the eye but it triggers you to think about the intentions of the artist.
Has Teen Lab helped you grow as an artist?
Teen Lab made me the artist I am today. We have art classes in school but I never really enjoyed them because it's always like you have to know how to draw, but Teen Lab is different. Teen Lab allows you to discover who you are and your talents as an artist. I always knew I could draw but TL introduced me painting with acrylics and watercolor. I further developed interest in photography too. I just really love how TL allowed us to explore ourselves as artist.
