I mainly focus on paintings that talk about me. I feel that others will be able to relate the more personal the work’s meaning holds, which is something that drives me to make it in the first place. I want the raw emotion embedded into my art to rouse up their genuine thoughts. I want people to look at paintings I’ve made and come to their own conclusion on that topic, free of any mental barrier telling them they should repress how things in their life actually make them feel. Putting what we wish we could express down the drain kills our individuality, and that’s a vital trait of a human being that I fear is fading out.
I suppose my paintings are realistic not so much in the sense of how it looks, but rather realistic to emotion. If I don’t feel content with the mood my work is giving off, or if I think the expression isn’t strong enough, I work on it until I am more than certain any viewer will feel a connection to it.
