Teen Lab at the Art Institute of Chicago
Get To Know Me: Delijah
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?
It's more of a graffiti style and all over the place, it's unordinary things that you wouldn't imagine could be together. I also do some photography with collage to match my art style. Right now I really like to work with clay and I'm trying to get the hang of working with paint. Building things with cardboard, ceramics, and sculpture in general is a part of my style.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE?
Boredom! But It's actually a getaway too, trying to get away from everyone else and take a break from media by expressing myself through art.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS? DOES IT START WITH A SKETCH, A PHOTO, OR AN IDEA?
I try to think of something that I haven't done before. I want it to challenge me and be kind of hard. I think outside the box, making things people wouldn't expect.
WHAT DOES TEEN LAB MEAN TO YOU?
It means I get to spend time with people that share something in common with me. I get to explore different things that they do so for example, I can bite off what they're doing with their art and it will help me with my art.
